Application Case: Production of Zirconia Crown Restorations Using a Vacuum Porcelain Furnace
• Process Steps
• Data Acquisition: Obtain a three-dimensional digital model of the patient's mouth using an intra-oral scanner. Alternatively, take a traditional silicone impression and convert it into a digital model by the laboratory.
• Designing the Restoration: Based on the digital model, design a zirconia crown shape suitable for the patient in CAD software, ensuring correct occlusion and natural aesthetics.
• Milling the Zirconia Block: Import the designed digital model into the CAM system. Place the selected zirconia block in the CNC milling machine and automatically mill out the zirconia coping according to the design file.
• Coping Pretreatment: Clean the milled zirconia coping to remove residual milling particles. Perform sandblasting to enhance surface roughness and improve bonding strength with subsequent porcelain layers.
• Porcelain Application: Apply specialized porcelain powder in a specific ratio to the pretreated zirconia coping. Use a pipette or brush to evenly apply the porcelain powder to the coping surface, ensuring clear layers and avoiding bubble formation.
• Sintering: Place the porcelain-coated zirconia crown in the vacuum porcelain furnace. Set the appropriate sintering program, including preheating, heating rate, maximum temperature, and holding time. Start the equipment, enter the vacuum state, and begin the sintering process.
